IMMI Panel Member Data Shows Big Part of the Dwindling Emmy Audience Was Ryan Seacrest Fans

IMMI data shows a significant crossover between Ryan Seacrest’s American Top Forty radio show and the 59th Emmy Awards.
Eighteen percent of the IMMI Panel Members who watched the Emmy Awards also listened to Seacrest’s radio show the week before.  And as you might expect, this Seacrest Emmy audience was the younger demographic.  In fact,  29% of the 13-to-24 year old panel members who watched the Emmy Awards were also Seacrest radio listeners.

Compare this to Comedy Central Daily Show fans who tuned in to the Emmys.  Jon Stewart,  Steven Colbert, and Lewis Black, all from The Daily Show, all played a part in the Emmycast.  Seven percent of the IMMI Panel Members who saw the Emmys were also Daily Show viewers the previous week.

One thing Seacrest couldn’t do was make the audience stick around.  Twenty percent of the audience watched for ten minutes or less.  A whopping 59% of the audience stayed for less than thirty minutes.  There was little difference between the staying power of the Seacrest fans and the rest of the audience: they came, they saw,  they left.
