Overall out of home viewing for American Idol averaged 10.4% from March 20th to April 18th for both the Tuesday and Wednesday night editions of the show. A look at the trend line for the Tuesday night Performance Edition of Idol reveals out of home viewing peaked at an impressive 16% on the night of April 3rd.

The Wednesday half-hour American Idol actually peaked at nearly 20% the next night.

The build and drop-off in out of home viewing coincides with school spring vacation time for both colleges and families with school age children. But just because they were taking a break from their regular routines, doesn’t mean they were taking a break from one of their favorite shows. When you track out of home viewing during the height of Spring Break, the audience grows by nearly a fifth.
