PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY
IMMI is a research company that collects data on media exposure and consumer behavior for entertainment and consumer goods companies. Part of our process is to track what media our research panel members are exposed to and, under limited circumstances, where they are exposed to media.
We value the participation of our research panel members and respect their right to privacy. As a result, we have instituted a number of policies and procedures to protect personal information.
Research Panel Member Information
We need to collect certain personal information in order to provide panel members with cell phone service and conduct our business. Personal information may include name, address, current cell phone number, current cell phone provider, and landline phone number. We will not collect this personal information without panel member knowledge. We employ all current industry practices to protect the security of the personal information we collect. We do not disclose this personal information to others without consent, unless compelled to do so by law.
In addition to personal information, we collect demographic information to help us group research results by demographics. Demographic information includes age, television viewing preferences, level of education, type of employment, etc. This demographic information may be reported to our clients, but in no case will our clients receive names or any personal information.
Research Data
Our research practices have been designed to conform to the highest ethical standards of our profession.
The IMMI cell phone collects information that helps us understand what media panel members are exposed to. To do this, we analyze the waveforms of small snippets of audio on a periodic basis. These waveforms are encoded and sent to a central server, where they are matched against the waveforms of the audio sources we have in our database (for example certain ads, movies, and some TV and radio programming). We do not collect actual audio samples; nor do we have the means to process, record, or track any information that isn't already in our database. Panel member conversations cannot be heard or recognized by us. The media they watch or listen to will be reported anonymously. In no case will we share personal information that might identify a panel member to one of our clients.
Upon request, we will provide panel members with access to a sample of the information being collected from them. We can also share copies of panel member personal information and demographic information with the panel member for correction.
Effective Date and Changes: This Privacy Policy is effective as of August 1, 2007.
