More About How IMMI Works
At regular intervals your IMMISM cell phone picks up the audio around it with its microphone (the same one you speak into when you use the phone). The IMMI software on the phone translates the sounds into a digital code (which is a series of numbers), and sends that code to our processing system.

Our computers compare the code from your phone to codes from all the media in your area. When the IMMISM system finds a match, it's able to identify what programs and commercials were broadcast within the hearing range of the phone and you.
The data reported by your IMMI phone will be combined with data from other members of the research panel. Next, all of this data is summarized to report what people like you, your age and gender, listen to in terms of TV, radio, and movies. The clients of IMMI (entertainment companies, networks, advertisers) will use this information to better understand what you listen to every day. They hope to create programs and ads that are more interesting and relevant to you.
